Joshua Jones is a Licensed Master Social Worker with a Master of Social Work (MSW) Degree and a Marriage & Family Therapy (MFT) Certificate from the University of Georgia. He has also completed training as an RYT-certified yoga teacher. Prior to receiving his MSW, he worked in the yoga, entertainment, and aviation professions – therefore Josh truly understands the complexities that arise from these industries on a personal level. He loves working with creatives and aviation professionals, in addition to his other clients. His approach to therapy is heavily influenced by his various backgrounds, especially yoga, tending to approach issues from a holistic, mind-body-spirit integration.

Josh believes that the key to success in therapy is in the relationship with his clients. This often means utilizing humor, creativity, authenticity, and warmth.

Similar to his eclectic past, he is an eclectic therapist. Rather than prescribing to a one-size-fits-all approach, he pulls from multiple modalities and orientations, and then tailors those for each individual client. His orientation is rooted in Humanistic Theory, Queer Theory, Psychodynamic Theory, and Systems Theory, and he leans heavily into utilizing Mindfulness, CBT, and EFT.

He enjoys working with people from all walks of life, but specializes in working with those who are members of the LGBTQ+ community. He specializes in individual therapy and couples therapy, and has experience working with issues related to grief/loss, LGBTQ+ identity, sexuality, relationship conflicts, relationship communication, anxiety, depression, trauma, self-identity, self-esteem, life transitions, and substance use. His goal is to compassionately assist individuals and couples on their journeys toward authenticity, self-awareness, and empowerment through a relational, mindfulness-based approach that embraces diverse identities/experiences and fosters resilience and holistic well-being.

He is currently being supervised by Erika Pluhar, PhD, EdS, LMFT, LPC, CST-S, who is assisting him in working towards sex therapy certification.
